The fine organ by Harrison and Harrison of Durham was recently restored and is considered to be one of the finest parish church organs in the country.

Previously under the direction of the Organist and Choirmaster, Colin Hicks the choir of six men and women and 12 choristers sings regularly at the 10.00 am Sunday service and at Evensong on the second Sunday of each month. St Mary’s is unique in that its choir has five members who are Gold Medallists of the Royal School of Church Music.

Until recently, the Upbeat Orchestra and Song Group, Anacrucis, directed by Carol Gedye lead the All Age Worship on the third Sunday of the month. Currently there is a small group of musicians and singers carrying on the work started by Carol.

Director of Music

I am delighted to announce that Chris Denton has been appointed Director of Music and will be starting at the beginning of February 2016.

More details to follow.

In anticipation of Chris starting we thought we'd share a new photograph of our Trebles.  They are a dedicated group of young people and have just been awarded their blue ribbon and are working towards their next one.
