Retired Assistant Bishop of Wales and former vicar of Helmsely, David Wilbourne - 'Shepherd of Another Flock'

UPDATE - Excellent evening with good mix of congregation, community and friends all joining together over a glass of wine, cheese and biscuits to enjoy the very good storytelling of life as a chaplain, canon and bishop.

As a vicar's son, David Wilbourne worked in a bank before becoming parish priest in Helmsley. He served as the Archbishop of York's chaplain and as a canon of York Minster, before moving to be a bishop in Cardiff.

His latest book, Shepherd of Another Flock, catches his love of wandering and cycling through the iconic Yorkshire countryside, shrewdly observing the quirks, poignancy and humour of the characters he bumps into.

He tenderly cherishes even the most unpromising situation or person, sharing their tears and laughter with a wider audience.

Harvest @ Fun-Key Church

UPDATE - Fun afternoon with 40 of us celebrating all things harvest.  Plenty of crafts and activities.  Photos to follow shortly.  Thanks to all who came and all who helped.  See you next Sunday 29th October 2017 at 4pm for fun, faith and fellowship for all ages.

On Sunday 24th Sept at 4pm we look forward to welcoming everyone back to Fun-Key Church after our break over August.

We will be celebrating Harvest and talking about how generous God is, how his love is overflowing.  And also how we have a responsibility to be generous with all he has given to us, and to have courage and share our gifts and talents to good purpose as well as our possessions.

We have plenty planned on a theme of harvest – apple draughts, thankfulness wheel, autumn leaf creature making, giant jenga and a lot more too.  And, if you would like to bring some harvest gifts – fresh or tinned, then we would be delighted and will take them to The Beacon at Catterick Garrison.

We look forward to welcoming you.

Fun, faith and fellowship for all ages.

Worship for All at St Mary's

UPDATEJoyful service led by Bishop John and Scott celebrating all things "Harvest".  All the gifts will be taken to The Beacon at Catterick Garrison.  The church was beautifully decorated and it was a really bright and friendly service.

We would love to welcome you to our all age communion service at St Mary's on Sunday 17th September at 10am when we will be celebrating harvest.

This service has a more informal feel to it and the music is provided with the music group and singers (formerly known as Upbeat and Anacrusis and now requiring a new name!).  Singers and musicians young and old are invited to come and join in and sing or play in the group to accompany this service which is held on the third Sunday of the month).  Our Musical Director Chris Denton will lead us and we look forward to expanding this group and developing our skills further).  (There will be a practice on Friday 15th Sept at 5.30pm in St Mary's to go through some of the music - old, young, Grade 0, Grade 8 - all welcome!).

Why not join us?  We would love to welcome you.

UPDATE - Thank you to all who came to this special timeless worship.

A contemplative time of worship, where we aim to create a sacred space in which to encounter the mystery of God. There is time to use the prayer stations or spend the time to think, pray, awaken the senses and simply be with God, followed by a service of Compline or Eucharist.
