Ruth's Window,
St Mary's Parish Church, Richmond, North Yorkshire
Ruth Frances Gedye was 18 when she died of leukaemia. She faced her four year battle with the illness with determination, cheerfulness, and confidence in her faith. She had been a chorister and musician at St Mary's Richmond since being 8 years old.
She attended Richmond C of E primary school, and Richmond School, where she was preparing her university applications to study medicine. She died on 14th February 2004.
A window in celebration of the life of Ruth Gedye was installed in St Mary's Church on February 14th 2008, the fourth anniversary of her death.
The magnificent stained glass window was made by the artist, Alan Davis of Lythe, Whitby.
