UPDATE - A real thought-provoking afternoon, during which we discussed round small tables things like "what is a good death?"; "what is your first memory of death?"; "how do you feel about being asked to wear bright colours to a funeral?" and so much more. Bishop John gave us plenty of food for thought with quotes and thoughts from poets, authors and the Bible. An afternoon of faith, fellowship and friendship.
A few photos from the day can be found here.
Our next speaker on Sunday 17th July will be Bishop John Pritchard who will be looking at the topic which proved highly popular when he spoke about it at Ripon Cathedral Lent Groups - Living Faithfully with Death. Perhaps an unusual subject, but from the feedback received from Ripon, this was the session which people enjoyed most, and was in no way sombre or depressing - far from it in fact.
The 'Cafe Church' happens bi-monthly at 4pm in St Mary's, and is aimed at everyone who would like to spend a relaxed and informal time of learning and fellowship together, finishing with the quiet service of compline. The refreshments will be available from 3.45pm.
